Leon Golub "Live + Die Like a Lion?" at Northwestern University's Block Museum

Leon Golub (1922-2004)
Golub was known for large-scale oil paintings and drawings that depicted the injustice of humanity.
“That’s my ultimate intent: to have them be political, to have them be erotic, to have them be neurotic, to have them be just rotten.” Golub said in 2004.

Merc, 1984 color lithograph. Golubs political painting reflecting his and the Artists Call Against U.S. intervention in Central America's views on the issue. The title Merc is short for Mercanaries.

Golub used all sorts of tools, from the expensive charcoals to inexpensive tools such as crayons.

Please excuse my white balance... woops!
